fishing

Join us on a guided boat tour through the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge for sport fishing of local species. Group visits are available and can also cater to photography enthusiasts. Fishing conditions change with the seasons, and we utilize various techniques like fly fishing, spinning, or traditional methods. All fishing is conducted with a sport fishing ethos of catch and release.

Details

Experience a custom boat tour through the canals, focusing on catching the primary species of the area. The tour begins early in the morning to reach the best fishing spots and increase your chances of catching fish. Tours can be either half-day or full-day, with a lunch break, running from approximately 5 am to 6 pm. Possible species you may find include tarpon, gar, guapote, and machaca. Keep in mind that fishing is prohibited in Caño Negro from April 1st to August 1st, and gar fishing is banned from September 1st to the end of February.

During the permissible fishing months, a fishing license must be obtained from local authorities, which should be coordinated with your guide before the tour
